Dating safely on CINQ.

Last updated September 29, 2026

CINQ+ Match introduces you to people through what you watch. Most of them are exactly who they say they are. These habits keep it that way for you, and they cost nothing when the other person is genuine.

Video first: a watch party is a video date

Before you meet anyone in person, watch something together. Plan a watch date from your match and pick “Remote watch party”: when it’s time, both of you press Join your date and you’re in the same party, on camera, with the same film playing. You get to see and hear them, and you have something to talk about.

If someone always has a reason their camera doesn’t work, take that as your answer.

Meet in public

  • For the first few dates, meet somewhere busy: a cinema, a café, a bar you know.
  • Get there and home on your own. Don’t accept a lift to or from a first date.
  • Keep your drink with you, and leave whenever you want to. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
  • Keep your address, workplace and daily routine to yourself until you know them.

Tell a friend

Before you go, tell someone you trust who you’re meeting, where and when. Send them their CINQ profile. Arrange to text them during the date, and again when you’re home.

Never send money

Whatever the story (an emergency, a ticket to come and see you, a sure-thing investment), never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven’t met, and be wary even when you have. Nobody genuine needs you to use Cash App, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal to prove anything. Someone who asks is almost always running a scam: report them.

To help, CINQ checks new messages in a match’s chat, on your own device, for payment apps, crypto, gift cards and phone numbers, and shows you a short note the first time one turns up. It never blocks a message and never tells anyone.

Take your time moving off CINQ

There’s no rush to move to another app or share your number. Someone pushing hard to get you somewhere else quickly is a common warning sign.

How to report

Use Report on any dating screen: a card in the deck, Likes you, a match (in its ⋯ menu), or a match’s chat. The reasons include:

  • “Fake profile or someone else’s photos”
  • “Asked for money, gift cards or crypto”
  • “Something that happened on a date”
  • “Someone underage”

Reports are private: the person is never told who reported them. A report from a dating screen also takes them out of your deck. A person reads every report.

You can also Unmatch, which ends the match and closes your chat without a block, or Block, which hides you from each other everywhere on CINQ. You can write to us at safety@cinq.watch, with or without an account.

If you’re in danger

If you’re in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the US) first. If something happened to you on a date, it is not your fault. In the US, RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline is free and confidential, day or night: 1-800-656-4673. Then tell us too, so we can act on the account.

Adults only

CINQ and Match are for adults 18 and over. Dating needs your birthday on your profile, and once you’ve used Dating it’s locked, so ages in the deck can be trusted. If you think someone is under 18, report them with “Someone underage”. Our Child Safety Standards explain what we do.
